Released at the twilight of the PlayStation 1's lifespan, Final Fantasy IX is an RPG developed and published by Squaresoft (now Square Enix) in 2000. Upon release, it was overshadowed by the PlayStation 2 and subsequent series entry Final Fantasy X, but today IX is a well-regarded, beloved game that echoes the roots of the franchise.
